How Can Osteoarthritis Of The Lower Back Be Treated?

I was diagnosed with advanced osteoarthritis of the lower back and knee by my primary care Dr. she also determined from the x-rays my L4 has some slippage over my L5. I have not been injured or in an accident. I am 49 years old. My pain has been chronic for a year now. prior to this problem I have been very active and involved in sports my entire life. I have tried everything. Chiropractic treatment, massage, spa, stretching, I am unable to work out past a warm up stage because the pain is intense. I am tired all the time. I cannot get comfortable in any position. Just walking or standing causes pain in the back of my legs down to the ankle. All of my joints are aching all of the time. I am scheduled for an MRI before I see a surgeon about my lower back and knee. An epidural shot was recommended. Is this the best course of action? Could this be something worse?

hi, epidural steroid injecjtion is definitely helpful as it reduces inflamation and swelling near the compressed nerve roots which are causing pain. Bit it is only for temporary relief and if you cannot tolerate surgery due to other health issues. Surgery is recommended if there is slippage of vertebral bodies.
