How Can Pain After Gallbladder Removal Be Treated?

Hi, I had my gallbladder removed in February, but have still been suffering with pains, not as strong, but in the same area. I am awaiting a scan to see if any stones are left. However the pains changed a week ago to waves, and as my mum said this is how her pancreatitis started, the doctor did a blood test. My bloods have shown my serum alkaline phospatase level as 139, the doctor said this is fine. I am 30 years old, and believe this level is higher than it should be. Could this show i do have a stone blocking a duct?

It is very possible that you do have a stone in the bile duct, and this is causing the discomfort, even so long after you gall bladder surgery. Another cause could be a bile duct stricture, which may or may not be related to the surgery you had. Other than liver function tests and pancreatic function tests, you will have to get an MRI of your abdomen, especially to see the liver, bile ducts and pancreas. You may also require an upper GI endoscopic examination. Please consult a Gastroenterologist for the management.
