How Can Pain And Burning Sensation Below The Sternum Be Treated?

I ate hot food on Monday night that got stuck briefly in my lower oesophagus and burned me. Since then I have had a strong cobtinuous heart burn sensation just below my sternum that is worse standing up. It wasn t as bad yesterday but since last night it hurts to eat. I took gaviscon yesterday morning and ranitidine last night. No improvement in ranitidine. Any recommendations to ease it should I visit a gp? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per query is concerned please visit your Doctor now and you require prescription medications like [pantoprazole & Baclofen]and follow few lifestyle modifications to obviate it in the future.

1)Maintain a healthy weight and if you are overweight try to reduce it 1kg per week.

2)Everyone has categorical triggers. Prevalent triggers such as fatty or fried foods, tomato sauce, alcohol, chocolate, mint, garlic, onion, and caffeine may make heartburn worse. So try to avoid it.

3)Try to avoid overeating by eating smaller meals

4)Wait at least three hours after eating before laying down or going to bed.

5)Try to avoid smoking if you have this habit

Hope that helps
