How Can Pain And Inflammation On The Toe Be Treated?

I did have an ingrown toenail and went to doctor and he cut it and cleaned out where it was filled with pus. I did go on antibiotics and it disappeared for a couple of weeks. But, I ran into a door with my toe and was wondering if the pain I have now could be associated with that. I don t think it s the ingrown toenail anymore, but my toe is VERY sore - can t even have a sheet touch it. It s sore from the top, not in a joint. And it s warm to the touch and slightly discolored. I did have foot surgery done approx. 7 or 8 years ago. Was a bunion and my toe has never been the same. Always numb. Any suggestions?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The persistent pain and tenderness in the toe is suggestive of a remaining infection and inflammation in the area. The area needs proper pus drainage under the guidance of a surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
