How Can Pain And Irritation In The Vagina Be Treated?

Ok, I am 57 years old and I have suffered with incontinence for a number of years. I had a bladder sling which has helped tremendously. The only time I am bothered is when I sneeze or cough. I have had a cold for two weeks and I soak everything I put on ( which is miserable, but I can live with that.) . My problem is this my Vagina area is raw and I have washed I have soaked in the bath tub to get some relief. I am not getting. There is no oder no discharge I tried to put some vaginal cream on to act as a protective agent and it didn t help. I was recently diagnosed as a type II diabetic, I don t know if this makes a difference or not. I also had a radical hystorectomy 11 years ago. What can I do for the irritation in my vagina area it really hurts and it is extremely hard to walk.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Vagina being wet due to incontinence causing some soreness . This gets exaggerated by raised urine sugar ( type 2 diabetes) with increased chances of vaginal bruises & soreness with possible inflammation.
- Get cold treated well with anti allergic decongestant pills over the counter.
- A control of blood sugar with a diabetologist's consultation with regular dietary precautions/ exercises/ reduction of weight.
-Use of soaking diapers to avoid wetting.
- Local Flucanazole with antibiotic ointment would help.
Thanks
