How Can Pain And Spasms In The Lower Back Be Treated?

hi I was working all day today...I stand up all day as I am a hairstylist... I felt fine until after I locked up and went home. my lower back started hurting...so I put a heating pad on it. I have never felt pain like this before. it almost feels like back spasms. I took 600mg ibufrofen which didn t really do anything. I can hardly walk and im starting to get scared of what it might be. I have not strained my back in any way... I climbed some stairs on Thursday but I felt fine then

As you mentioned, your pain is likely due to spasms of the muscles in the back which can occur with prolonged standing.

The pain can be severe in some cases, as it is for you.

The use of a heat pad along with the ibuprofen is appropriate and the ibuprofen should be continued.
The ibuprofen should be used at the maximum allowed dose.

You may need a muscle relaxant added to this if there is no improvement. A prescription may be needed for one of these from your doctor.
