General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per the history is given, it seems that your son has Tendo-Achilles Bursitis. In this condition, there is pain and swelling at the site of the insertion of the Tendo-Achilles to the heel bone (Calcaneum), in the posterior aspect of the heel.

Usually, this happens due to the prolonged strain of the feet and the tendon. It is best that he rests his feet as much as is possible for the swelling and inflammation to subside, which may take about 3 to 4 weeks.

He should also always wear footwear with soft, pressure distributing insoles like Ethyl Vinyl Acetate, Poron, Silicon, Platazote. Next line of management is local infiltration of Methyl Prednisolone acetate.

It is best that he consults a Podiatric surgeon or an Orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ajit Kumar Varma
