How Can Pain And Swelling In The Finger Be Treated?
Ok, I grabbed my rooster yesterday and caught his leg spine on my finger. It made a small prick. no bleeding. I put a bandaid on it and continued to kill it an two other chickens. pluck, inviserate. then I went to work cutting bushes and pulling roots. My finger swelled up and was painful to move. I soaked it in real hot water with epsom salt. Last night it got more pain. I poked at it with a needle and pulled some skin away and got it to bleed. I then put peroxide on it. today it seemed to be less swollen. Now it is still swollen and warm to the touch. I was planning to soak it in epsom salt again tonight with hot water. I am thinking maybe cold or ice water would be better? what do you think?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Please do meet a doctor (surgeon) and get it evaluated. There is an infection in the finger and if it is not treated properly, then it may result in pus collection and further damage to the finger may happen. Let the doctor examine and if there is pus formation, then he will drain it. Later if any culture test or antibiotics required, he will advise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
