How Can Pain And Swelling In The Hands Be Treated?

I fell forward on Christmas Eve, breaking my fall with my hands, and my hands are still swollen and extremely painful. They have been x-rayed and have no breaks. I do have a large lump near the wrist. When I use my right hand for anything, it becomes numb after a few seconds. Sometimes the pain and numbness radiates to my shoulder. I can barely open my hands fully and cannot make a fist. I have had one round of steroids and am on an anti-inflammatory.

Hello,

The way you are explaining the symptoms, I am having a doubt whether you have carpal tunnel syndrome or not. If I were there in the clinic to see you I would have definitely examined your arm for the same and found out the condition.

If it is carpal tunnels syndrome, you need to be corrected. Depending on the severe weather it can be subsided with medication or not I would have prescribed you some better anti-inflammatory and antibiotic drugs.

If still not getting better, then I would have recommended you to have a release under local anesthesia which will definitely cure all your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
