How Can Pain And Swelling In The Knees Be Treated?

I took a hard fall in the driveway ontomykeft knee. The fall was bad and tore the knee out on my pants. My knee really hurt, swelled up and all the knee skin is scuffed off and bleeding. I cleaned my knee, elevated it and put ice on it. It is very sore and now numb.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As of now apply ice packs and you can take simple analgesics like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac for pain. Anti inflammatory drugs like Serratiopeptidase can also be added. As you are able to walk following the incident, fracture is very unlikely. If the pain and swelling persist, better to take an MRI scan to look for any tendon involvement or ligament tear.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
