How Can Pain And Swelling In The Knees Be Treated?

My daughter was either stepped on or kicked on her knee while playing soccer yesterday. She had a tiny bump and was tender after the game. Today, her knee is bruised and her knee is swollen on the inner side of the knee about the size of a tennis ball. It is hard, and she is in pain.
