How Can Pain And Swelling In The Left Ankle Be Treated?

I fell a week ago I fell, injuring my left ankle. There is still a lot of swelling and discoloration. Today its hurting more than it has all week. The pain is on the lower end of my tibia just above the crease of the ankle joint. It s a strong ache and I am already taking 800mg advil/ibuprofen. I haven t iced it today as I m working, so it hasn t been elevated either. I went to the Dr the day it happened and she said if you are walking on it, its not broken. I don t want meds, just wondering, should I wrap it?

three main crucial steps to follow for a injured limb. 1.elevation of limb
2.applying ice
3.immobilization atleats for 2weeks
I can understand your working. so try to avoid walking whenever possible. use facility of wheel chair if available and elevate your limb when sitting or sleeping.
mostly it could be a sprain automatically it decreases without much usage pain killers
if adequate rest not take I am afraid it may project into chronic mild pain in future
