How Can Pain And Swelling In The Leg Be Treated?

My mum had a fall 2 weeks ago & fell on her hip, she struggled to get up & walk after, we went to minor injuries & they assessed her & said he hadn t broke it but has soft tissue damage & torn/twisted ligaments/ tendons. She s still in a wheelchair at times & walking with crutches but can t walk unaided yet. Still very painful. Today she has a swollen foot/leg on her better leg & felt dizzy when using her crutches earlier when out. Could you advise on what it could be & what the healing process usually is please.?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI , thanks for using healthcare magic

Assuming that imaging ( x rays) were done to make sure that there is no fracture.
If there were no x rays done, then they need to be done.

If no fracture is present then it is possible that the changes may be due to soft tissue damage (muscles , ligaments)

In addition to regular use of pain medication, she may need physiotherapy as well to help with pain relief

I hope this helps
