Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter hurt her leg over a year and a half ago after hitting her leg on a banister when she fell down the stairs it was severely swollen so we brought her to get and x ray which suprisingly was clear but she was put on crutches for three weeks as she couldn’t walk her leg is still very painful and swollen we took her to physio which didnt help and we don’t know what to do now
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There might be some hairline fracture sustained and not diagnosed in the first x-ray. So, I recommend you to get that x-ray done again and get reported by a professional radiologist.
If there was any fracture hairline, it takes some time to heal. She needs to rest that limb and do some physiotherapy. If that fracture has progressed to be displaced then need to be fixed by surgery.
It will be a permanent solution and you can get it done by orthopedician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
