How Can Pain And Swelling In The Leg Be Treated?

My fiancee fell and hit his leg a couple weeks ago. He soon after started saying that his whole thigh and knee hurts and he was having trouble keeping his balance. The next day his knee and most of his thigh bruised and swollen. A few days ago after mostly staying in bed and his pain and swelling had gone away he walked to the store and came back and now his leg is swollen again and hurting as bad as before. What is this and how can I help him get better?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Firstly how you did x-ray after an injury to look for fracture, hematoma or dislocation. There could be closed fracture or hematoma due to muscle or ligament injury with soft tissue damage. You should see the orthopedics and start treatment accordingly. To reduce swelling, you can do leg elevation with a pillow which reduces swelling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
