How Can Pain And Swelling In The Right Hand Be Treated?

My right hand began to hurt two days ago. The thumb and fleshy part at the base of the thumb are the center of the pain. First that area began to swell, now it seems the whole hand is swollen. There is no off color or bruising. I am unaware of anything such as a spider bite. I have no recollection of any blunt force trauma or anything else that could have caused the initial swelling. I have tried Icing it, aspirin and low voltage electric shock. there was no improvement. My other hand is normal. The pain does not go up my arm. What should I do next?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
In my opinion your symptoms may be due to collection of purulent material in the soft tissues of your hand.
It is advisable to get your hand examined and there might be a need to start you on oral antibiotics with anti inflammatory drugs.
