How Can Pain And Swelling On The Left Foot Be Treated?

I don t know if it is anything serious, on the top inside of my arch on the left foot, very uncomfortable pain, when I put any of my shoes on, even walking barefoot. I don t remember stepping wrong or twisting it, but it does seem swollen. I m icing it and switching to heat. Can this wait until I can get an appointment with my doctor?

I can understand your concerns and anxiety.
Coming to your complaint, as only one foot was effected, it might not be an emergency condition.

As there was no history of twisting or stepping wrong, we can exclude possibility of sprain. As there was sudden pain and swelling, the probable reason could be inflammation of tendon (achilles tendonitis). You can go for x-ray foot to confirm the cause.

Coming to treatment part follow the below:
1. wear compression socks
2. keep your foot in elevated position
3. flex and extend your ankle repeatedly
4. take magnesium supplements

No need to worry, understand all the aspects and act accordingly. Hoping for a speedy recovery.
