How Can Pain And Swelling On The Right Knee Be Treated?
I skipped a step going from the house to garage. I had my hands full in effort not to drop anything i landed on my right foot with all of my weight. I have swelling to my right knee above and below it and to the right side and left side. The right side of the knee is exceptionally painfull . I cannot bear weight on the one left from kneeling down position when getting up.
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. Some advices that I can give to you are : -Wrappe the injured or sore area with an elastic bandage (such as an Ace wrap), will help decrease swelling. -Elevate the injured or sore area on pillows while applying ice and anytime you are sitting or lying down. Try to keep the area at or above the level of your heart to help minimize swelling. -Reduce stress on your sore knee -Gently massage or rub the area to relieve pain and encourage blood flow. Do not massage the injured area if it causes pain. -Try exercises to maintain flexibility. -Do not smoke. Smoking slows healing because it decreases blood supply and delays tissue repair. Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
