Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
yes I am a 56 year old male - I was out of town in a hotel for work last week during the middle of the night I got up and ran into the coffee table - My shin is bruised and has a large knot on it the swelling has not gone done. My ankle is now bothering me also and is purple on the inside and greenish on the outside. It is also swollen and painful.
You may start putting some cold compresses on the shin and ankle for oedema. To ease pain may use Ibuprofen twice daily, or any OTC medication you may have used before for pain treatment.
Also, Heparin cream may be used to get rid of hematoma. Get some rest, keep your leg raised on your bed. Also, an ankle radiography may be done to see how far the damage has gone, for this, you should consult your family doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Suzana Zharri, General & Family Physician
