How Can Pain At The Base Of The Skull Be Treated?

I am a 47 year old male that drives a semi truck 50 hours per week. I sit at least 10 hours a day in the truck. I cant turn my head. The middle of my neck going diagonally to my ear, right at the base of my skull severely hurts. I feel like there is a pressure in one ear (the right side, where the neck pain is) when I clench my teeth, like my ear drum will pop. My neck hurts so bad I can barely move. It feels like my head is going to fall off. I cant turn my heard at all. Over the counter pain killers do not work. My mouth prefers to hang open.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You need consult orthopedic and you need X-ray of neck to see any deformity in cervical vertebras. Till consult orthopedic you can do cold massage over neck to reduce any swelling around vertebra. Hope you get some help from cold massage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
