How Can Pain In The Groin Area Be Treated?

HI, I had a fall while skiing. At a emergency room they took X-rays and said that nothing was broke and I had a stained groin. That was four days ago. The pain in my groin has whent away, and now I have a sharp pain in my hip when I try to walk on it. I would think that I should be abel to walk with little or no pain by now. What do you recommend.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

When you had trivial trauma, you might have hematoma meaning bleeding in the groin due to injury. So only that might have looked stained to you.

In order to clear the hematoma body, response and inflammatory mediators are produced which do cause pain. So, even though hematoma disappears but that mediators remain in your body to cause pain.

So in order to get relief from that, you can take painkillers like diclofenac, tramadol, pethidine, etcetera. These tablets will subside your pain until those mediators clear of your circulation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
