Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
After being treated for systemic gout and being put on 300 mg of newrontin to bring down my uric acid (which came down to normal), the dosage was upped to 450 mg and I have been continually having more pain in my knee. I can put weight on it but can not bend without severe pain.
I think you should take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such Ibuprofen to help with pain and shorten attack especially first 24 hours.
I will recommend corticosteroids such as prednisone to be taken by mouth or injected into an inflamed joint to relieve the pain and swelling of an acute gout attack. They can also be injected systemically if the attack doesn’t respond to other medications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
