How Can Pain In The Left Breast Be Treated?

I took a bad fall a few days ago and fell flat on my stomach. In the process, I fell hard on my left breast and it has hurt badly ever since. The pain actually seems to be getting worse as time passes. It is almost a burning sensation in my breast but I m very sore underneath and to the side my breast as well. It is worse with movement and when laying on my sides. I m really starting to get concerned. I assumed the pain would ease up by now. Oh, and if this is of help at all, I reached above my head yesterday afternoon to hammer a nail in the wall to hang a picture. The pain increased immediately and hasn t gotten any better. Help!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. It seems you had a pretty bad fall. You might have bruised the breast tissue, muscles and bones of your chest. It will take time to heal especially if there is clot underneath. The burning sensation maybe due to scarping of the skin.

To ease the pain, place an ice pack and use NSAID drug like Ibuprofen. If the pain continues, you might want to get an Chest x-ray done to see if you have fractured any ribs.

I hope I have answered your question. Please let me know if you have any further concerns.
