How Can Pain In The Lower Back And Right Leg Be Treated?

Hi I have been diagnosed with bulging discs at multiple levels and a compressed nerve root in my lower back @ L4. It is very painful with pain radiating down my right leg. I have never been in so much pain. My doctor has set me up to a consult with a Neurosurgen. I have been going to Therapy but not much has improved because basically my therapist only had an x-ray to go on and really didn t know how to help me until the insisted on the MRI and I had it last week. I couldn t get the MRI until I went to therapy first. What I would like to know is what can I do to help my pain, what should/has to be done to fix this, what will the neurosurgeon tell me about my conditions and will I ever be able to eliminate this pain completely.
