Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A week ago I purchased a new mattress choosing a plush one. I was leary about getting a firm one because I had a ruptured disk about 20-25 years ago in the lower back causing pain. The pain went away with spinal shots and doing the exercises kept the pain away. Lately I have been getting pain again and I think it might be caused by the mattress. The pain is in my lower back and goes down my leg when I do my daily walks. What do you advise for me?
As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan to rule out spine related conditions like a prolapsed disc or nerve compression.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
