Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I hurt my low back July 4th weekend. I went to my chiropractor but I am still having pain in my low back. I ve had surgery for debre-removal on my L4/L5 in 1998. My chiropractor wants to see me again tomorrow, but I am concerned that it isn t getting better.
Hello, Lower back pain is very commonly seen these days among the young and old alike. The lifestyle changes coupled with decreased physical activity can be a major cause as it results weakening of the muscles of the back. A good physiotherapist can help as they will teach you different exercises to help strengthen your core muscles. Lifting heavy weights should be strictly avoided, swimming is also a good exercise for the same. If you feel like the pain is running down your legs probably an MRI would help to rule out another incidence of disc prolapse. You will require patience with your physiotherapist as it will take time for the condition to improve. Till then you can make use of pain killers like aceclofenac/diclofenac to alleviate the pain. As a modern medicine consultant we usually prefer physiotherapists over chiropractors. I hope I answered your query satisfactorily. Thank you.
