Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I lifted turkey out of oven today and felt pull in my back and stomach. I continued day with no problem. It hurts on left side when sitting. I am using heating pad now and took an ibuprofen. I am 69 years old and not over weight. If I continue normal routine, will pain just go away? At what point should I go to doctor.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello,
The physical stress might have caused temporary muscle spasm/sprain which should go away within few days.
The moment you start getting tingling, numbness or unbearable pain/repeated muscle pulls, you should consult a spinal surgeon for investigating for lumber spondylosis (this is the age when osteoporosis may set in to cause these problems).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
