How Can Pain In The Right Hand And Shoulder Be Treated?

I took a fall and believe I twisted my right side. My shoulder is sore and I think I bumped my rib cage on he right hand side as it is sore (lame) but no sharp pain when I breathe. This is five days out from injury. No visible bruising. All on right side arm and around right side. Should I be icing or heating?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You need to go to the nearest medical center, for complete clinical assessment, X-ray of the joint as well as other routine tests depending on the initial findings. After all, your doctor may suggest:

1- Rest your shoulder, by avoiding any physical activity until improvement. 2- Prescribe analgesics such as Ibuprofen.
3- Apply topical drugs such as Diclofenac Gel.
4- Muscle relaxant.
5- Apply cold compressors to your joint, allow the pain to resolve quickly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
