How Can Pain In The Ring Finger Be Treated?

Hi, so I punched a wall a year ago and pain struck my ring finger knuckle and middle finger knuckle including pain in the 3rd and 4th metacarpal. The pain still hasn’t gone to this day and if I press on the 4th metacarpal I get a very painful sharp pain. Should I still go get it checked even though I waiting this long?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, you should be assessed since are still experiencing significant pain. Examination and imaging of the hand by an x-ray would be needed. Treatment would depend on the findings.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
