How Can Pain In The Shin Be Treated?

Earlier today in school, I was playing on a desk. When I tried to get down, I hit my shin bone on the arm rest of the desk. It hurt like hell but I was fine. When I got home and took off my socks, I noticed a small "dent". I'm not sure how to describe it... Any tips?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us.

I would recommend you to do some exercises:
It easier to do the exercises for both legs and why not give your uninjured leg a little more power!
Sitting with your legs straight out in front of you, turn your feet inwards and press them together for a count of 5.
Repeat this exercise pointing your toes at the same time.
Repeat these two exercises several times a day.

Some more tips:
Apply ice immediately to the shin.
Take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory, such as ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, acetaminophen
Wear elastic compression bandages
Use a foam roller to massage your shins

However check with your doctor before restarting any activities. Warming up before exercising is also a good way to make sure your legs aren’t sore.
