Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell onto concrete onto my tailbone about two months ago. Of course it hurt immensely and then subsided over time. But the pain comes back suddenly as it did today and it really hurts. Never went to my physician initially. Difficult to get up out of a chair right now. Not sure if I actually broke it or simply bruised it.
Take NSAIDs such as ibuprofen to reduce pain and improve your ability to move around. Do not take NSAIDs if you have kidney disease, a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, or are also taking a blood thinner. To avoid pain and for faster recovery make sure your tailbone is least irritated by avoiding sitting down for long periods of time. When seated, avoid sitting on hard surfaces and alternate sitting on each side of the buttocks. Also, lean forward and direct your weight away from the tailbone. Majority cases of traumatic coccyxinjury get better within several weeks of the injury with proper precautions and treatment.
