Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im having a pain in my zygomatic area. 4 years ago i had jaw surgery. I had an underbite class III. ever since my face really changed and doesnt feel like its mine. The right side of my face has been swollen ever since and the muscles from temporalis to zygomatic area feels really tight. Even though i stretch and massage daily this does not have any impact on the swelling. Please help. Also checked on my sinusses already and that doesnt seem to be the problem.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pain in zygomatic area which can occur due to soft tissue injury leading to rupture of blood vessels and loss of subcutaneous fat. It could be due to impingement of nerve supplying facial area i.e 7th cranial nerve. I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to affected area and consult oral physician and an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and get evaluated and a proper examination and investigations like panoramic x-rays can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. For soft tissue injury you should start taking anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and start doing cool compresses.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
