Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have just heard about the potential for boron supplements to treat symptoms of osteoarthritis. I just turned 69, and have extensive joint pain in many parts of my body, especially my hands, shoulders, knees, and lower back and right side. (I recently had X-rays of my spine and was found to have extensive arthritis.) I take glucosamine/chondroitin complex already, and wonder if a supplement of some form of boron would help ease the pain, or even help rebuild cartilage? If so, how would I determine dosage?
There I have read through your questions and would like to tell you that some research has indicated that boron supplements may reduce symptoms of arthritis by reducing calcium resorption but it is not conclusive. You should continue to take the Glucosamine and Chondroitin sulfate supplement. For pain relief you can take over the counter painkillers like Aceclofenac.
I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman, General & Family Physician
