How Can Pain Upon Bending The Knees Be Treated?

I am very worried about my granddaughter. In early Feb, she fell at a day care and then stopped walking she is 18 months old. They could not find anything wrong so told my son to give her some pain pills. But after 2 weeks she was still not walking. They went to specialist who could not find anything but thought they should put the leg in a cast just in case and after 2 weeks they took it off. But she is still not walking again. Now the other leg is hurting when she bends her knees. What is going on?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The issue of pain upon bending the knees suggest possible ligament tear or injury due to falling at day care.

I recommend to undertake an MRI of the knee and consult in follow up with the report.

Wish her fine recovery.

Thank you.
