How Can Painful And Swollen Glands On The Neck Be Treated?

Hi, I am a 21 year old woman and I am experiencing painfully swollen and enlarged glands on my neck and behind my left ear, sensitive skin across large portions of my face, along with small rashes scattered across my forehead and scalp. Also, it hurts to open my jaw because it feels muscles there are slightly swollen, though it could be connected to my ears, because it is just in front of them... Should I be worried or is this something that will pass with time?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I understand your problem. You may have your parotid gland enlarged (parotitis). It may be due to bacterial or viral infection.
I suggest you to go to an ENT specialist as there is a facial nerve which goes through the parotid gland which can get affected. if you didn't treat this. So to avoid problems to facial nerve you should go to the doctor.

Hope this will help you.

Thank you and get well soon.
