Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has a severe case of athlete s foot, with painful drying, cracked skin on the sole of his right foot. Has also has two ligament tears near his Achilles tendon causing him to need to wear an ankle brace and compression socks which may have encouraged the athlete s foot infection. He also swims three times a week in a chlorinated pool. We have been using Clotri...and just changed to Tolnafate....but with the cracked and painful spilts in the sole of his foot the drying seems to cause more pain making it difficult to walk barefooted or in socks simply to the restroom...dilemma! Treating the ankle swelling with brace and socks while keeping his feet clean, dry and comfortable. YYYY@YYYY
Athlete’s foot — also called tinea pedis — is a contagious fungal infection that affects the skin on the feet and can spread to the toenails and sometimes the hands. The fungal infection is called athlete’s foot because it’s commonly seen in athletes. Athlete’s foot isn’t serious, but sometimes it’s hard to cure. However, if you have diabetes or a weakened immune system and suspect that you have athlete’s foot, you should call your doctor immediately at least to confirm the diagnosis. There are two Indian herbal products I know of that cured many a cracked heel. One is called Crack crème and the other is called Lichensa. Try to procure them somehow. They are really good. Socks and brace you still have to wear all the time at least to avoid wiping away of the medicament. If the fungus still persists try Nizoral Ontment. Hope it helps.
