How Can Painful Buttock Injury Be Treated?

I fell this morning going downstairs at home and landed straight on my left buttock. I was in so much pain I had to stay still for about 5 minutes and then I was able to move. I was able to go to work but I was still in a lot of pain and I was also very disoriented. I managed to make it through the day but I couldn t keep focus on anything. Even after I got home from work I still felt very disoriented and I felt very exhausted as though I could barely hold myself up. I have a bruise the size of a baseball and it s still painful but I still feel like I m not fully alert and I keep losing focus on anything I do. Any thought as to if the disorientation is normal with this type of fall?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, you have pain with bruising, I would suggest you take tab. Motrin for pain.

You can apply heat pads and diclofenac gel locally. these medications should be available over the counter.

In case of difficulty in walking, you may require MRI hip joint with both femurs after orthopedician consultation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
