How Can Painful Constipation Despite Taking Laxatives Be Treated?

Long story short(er), I had a freak case of a dieulafoy lesion just inside my anus that the surgeon stitched shut in the office Tuesday. I wasn t able to have any bowel movements until this morning which was extremely hard/dry and painful to pass even with lidocaine. I have since felt like there s much more in my gut that needs to come out. I ve been using laxatives with no success. I even used a mineral oil enema as suggested by the surgeon this morning over the phone and nothing. I m crampy and nauseous. I don t know what to do and I don t want to go to the ER because they ll be rude to me like they were this morning. I left before even getting into a room. Also, this isn t necessarily an emergency since I m not in near as much pain as I was this morning.

*Seems more in relation with bowel movement discomfort or alterations in gut flora mechanics.
* My recommendations
- Keep ambulatory.
- Drink plenty of liquids.
- Consume high fiber diet.
- Bulk forming laxative as Ispaghula husk or psyllium husk along with pre and pro biotics will help to great extent.
