Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Painful Lumps On The Legs Caused By An Injury Be Treated?
I fell last Wednesday and I have three large hematomas on my legs. Two are just below the knees and the third is on my left shin. While they are smaller than they were the first day, they are still quite large and painful. I went to the ER and had xrays to make sure no bones were broken or cracked and they sent me home with pain meds and instructions for RICE. How long can I expect to still be having so much pain?
Hematoma is a collection of blood underneath the skin that develops after a trauma. Most of them settle by itself even without any treatment. As of now you can apply ice packs over the swelling for faster recovery. You can take analgesics like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac in case of pain. If symptoms persist, you can consult an orthopedics and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
