How Can Painful Muscle Pull On The Upper Leg Be Treated?

Hi. I seem to have pulled a muscle in the back of my upper leg. Walking down stairs in heals I suddenly felt from my knee upwards and round the back of my leg a sudden pain. It did relax but I have been left with what I think is a muscle which is very sore and seems to be swollen. Please advise.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

My guidelines for the best recovery

- foot end elevation over 3 pillows
- avoid direct pressure bearing
- ice application 5 minutes each every 4 hours
- round the clock intake of anti-inflammatory medications as Advil or else with antacid and after meals
- local application of analgesic spray with diclofenac and menthol.

Follow up after 24 hours about the progress or early as per the need.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
