Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I stepped off a curb wrong two weeks ago and sprained my ankle. I can walk on it but have pain above my ankle that is consistently getting worse. I can rotate my ankle, move it up and down and back and forth. I have been taking ibuprofen and have begun icing it again trying to get the pain to subside. I have also been wearing a compression ankle sleeve to try to help. It wakes me up at night. I'm wondering if I should go see my doctor.
As a physician I would like to tell you that sprained ankles are quite painful many a times. You did good in applying cold icing on ankle. keep doing it. Instead of Ibuprofen you can take Tab Enzoflam-D two times a day after meals for 4 to 5 days.
I would also suggest that you should if the pain and swelling does not subside after 4 to 5 days of treatment, you should go and see a physician as soon as possible.
Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question. Have a nice day.
Regards, Dr. Abhijeet
