Varicocele is an abnormal dilation of veins in the scrotum. It is usually asymptomatic except for a decrease in sperm count. The varicocele becomes symptomatic usually due to thrombosis. while it is not an emergent condition, it requires further investigation. I would advise you to go to your urologist. the ideal treatment at this point would be to perform a varicocelectomy, where the veins would be ligated off. Pain killers would only provide temporary relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
