How Can Pancreatic Cancer Be Treated?

hi, My mother in law has a pancreatic cancer and she had the chemo therapy since October 2016 and she did the MRI today and the doctor told her that the tumor had been increased and its size is 38 mm in comparison with her MRI in October 2016, he found out that she has a pancreatic duct obstruction. so how can you help me to save her life? Please let me know how can i upload the MRI reports because there is no space for attaching files. Thanks, Israa.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

I am liver and pancreatic surgeon and only way to cure pancreatic cancer is to do Whipple procedure. Chemotherapy cant provide cure and may only prolong life for several months. Ability to undergo surgery depends in her general condition but if tumor is limited just to pancreas head then i believe that it can be removed. Of course, there is certain operative risk but this is serious and lethal disease so this risk is acceptable. YOu can contact me through "ask a doctor directly" and then upload your mri images so I will be able to tell you more info about treatment and possibilities.
