How Can Panic Attacks In A Mentally Disabled Person Be Managed?
My daughter is multi handicapped. She is 21 years old mentally between the ages of 2 and 4 years of age. She has a chromosome abnormality. An unbalanced chromosome translocation of 2p and 14q. She also has partial Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum. She is having severe acting out problems this past week. She has autistic tendencies with Sensory issues of noise. She doesn t want to go anywhere and acts out with pushing and punching also repetitive phrases and saying she hates everyone. What medicine would help her be able to go outside the home and not panic and act out? She is currently on Seroquel.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
From the available description it is clear that your daughter is suffering with intellectual disability with behavioural diturbance. Although seroquel is one among the option for treatment of current problem but in case it is not showing desired effects I think Olanzapine can be used in low dosages after consulting your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
