Thanks for contacting with your health concern
1. As there are two different aspects of your questions, so I'll provide you my opinion based on postponing OR prepone your periods:
A. how to delay [postpone] menses:
i. This is a common demand in general practice to postpone menses, to avoid it during functions or traveling, so I usually prescribe my female patients:
i. Tablet
Regesterone [noresthisterone] 5 mg: 1 tablet twice daily which should be started at least 3 days before the due date, and continue as long as postponement is desired, but generally not more than 10 to 15 days.
PS. you may consult a Gynecologist regarding the same or for other options like Tablet
Ovral L [
contraceptive pill and for postponement of menses] since the easiest and best ways to delay your periods involve birth control or other prescription medicines.
ii. delaying periods is not a mean to guard against
pregnancy. [unless you are on birth control pills or have a device like IUD], so take extra means of protection like the use of a condom.
B. Prepone your periods:
- Papaya contains
carotene that helps in inducing
estrogen. The fruit generates heat in the body that helps in preponing periods. [pumpkin, carrot has similar action]
- pineapple juice: consumption of the juice twice a day also helps the periods to start early. [sugarcane juice/pomegranate juice also has similar action]
C. Other methods which one can take into account for delaying periods are:
- excessive emotional
stress.
- loosing or putting too much of weight.
- heavy exercises.
PS. It is never recommended to prepone or delay your periods, as it may affect the balance of your body's internal system, but if there is a need due to some relevant and genuine reasons only then one should opt for the same after consulting with relevant physician.
