How Can Periods Be Postponed?

Hi, I have 11 month old baby and I want to attend one religious function so I want to postpone my periods which were due on 25 December 17. Can I take regestrone tablets 5 mg twice a day to delay periods. also I am concerned whether it is safe while breastfeeding a baby?

Dear Madam, Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern.

The periods can be postponed by taking Norethisterone (Primolut-N) as follows:

Take tablet Primolut-N 5mg twice daily 3-4 days before your expected period date and continue till the date you want to delay your period.
After you stop taking the tablets, your period is likely to start after 3-4 days. You can take maximum up to 14 days.
It is a prescription drug so you should consult a gynecologist.

As far as breast feeding is concerned, this dose of Primolut-N may reduce the quantity of breast milk. Otherwise there seems to be no risk to the breastfeeding baby of a short course of medication at this dose.

Hope this will help.
Best regards.

A feed back is appreciated.
