How Can Peripheral Neuropathy And Tingling Sensation In The Feet Be Treated?
Hi there , after considerable foot surgery I am suffering from nerve pain in the form of severe pins and needles . The surgeon said take 2 tablets 3 times a day if pain does subside . Will this be alright ? . I do not have any allergies regarding drugs although the drug could be effecting my eyes , not eyesight wise but a bit itchy and red . However I do suffer from dry eye syndrome . Regards A Thornton.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.
After damage nerves might take some time before recovering and sometimes they never recover fully and may continue to cause symptoms depending on the type of the nerve that is affected. Nerve pain is very difficult to be treated with traditional painkillers like paracetamol and ibuprofen.
Generally carbamazepine can be tried to treat nerve pain and it is your doctor who should prescribe it and monitor the effect on the pain and adjust doses as needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
