How Can Peripheral Neuropathy In The Legs And Hands Be Treated?

I am a 63 year old man.I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet, legs and hands since 2013.I have tried at least 7 different non narcotic meds to help with neuropathy all to no avail.Over the last 6 months I have body pain everywhere.Sometimes my neck gets so stiff the back of my head goes numb in a small area.Mr shoulders and arms are killing me and my bones in my knees and ankles are starting to protrude. An ER Doctor thought I might have rheumatoid arthritis. I had blood work done 3 different times and I have no inflammatory markers. The ER tells me we cant help you.My PC Doctor tells me I cant help you, and The VA is a total waste of time. All I want is some relief from the constant pain.If I ask for somd pain meds I am given a long lecture on why they cant be prescribed. Its of no use anymore.Doctors are unwilling to work with anyone who has pain issues.I walked into an ER last year almost in tears from the pain and the ER Doctor came in and said I cant help you No examination, nothing.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. . I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
Peripheral neuropathy, a result of damage to your peripheral nerves, often causes weakness, numbness and pain, usually in your hands and feet. It can also affect other areas of your body.
Treatment actually depends on the right cause. Most common causes are diabetes, alcoholism, inherited disorders or trauma and medications however, many other causes may be seen so tests are required to identify the right one. Till that you can do some general remedies: Avoid factors that may cause nerve damage, including repetitive motions, cramped positions, exposure to toxic chemicals, smoking and overindulging in alcohol. Also take vitamin d supplemets and regulate blood sugar levels.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
