How Can Persistent Cough Along With Chills And Nausea Be Treated?

Hi my daughter has had a persistent cough for about a month. The mucous is thick and light yellow. It is worse at night. She denies any fever chills, nausea or vomiting. She is not short of breath. No medical history meds or allergies. We have not travelled out of the country in the last 8 months. We live in Hawaii.

Hi! Hard time to see our playful kids in such a bad shape. Good thing, it's temporary!

Since the cough is persisting for a month now I'd advice you to first get a chest x-ray and blood tests - CBC done. Also please give the sputum for Microbiology all investigations such as SPUTUM CULTURE AND SENSITIVITY AND SPUTUM FOR AFB. Kindly provide the results of the same.

For now, the cough has to be brought down by cough syrups and hot water consumption.

Based on the sputum description she could be having a bacterial infection that can be treated with oral antibiotics. But the reports are necessary to initiate any treatment.
