How Can Persistent Cough And Post Nasal Drip Be Treated?

I have a continual cough that has been present for several years. I think it is caused by post nasal drip. The cough starts with a tickle in the throat and doesn t stop till I am almost sick. It happens several times a day. Is there anything I can do to treat this. I have had my throat checked by an Ear Nose and throat specialist but seems to be clear. This is embarrassing as it puts pressure on my bowel. Barb

Hello,

Your problem can be due to laryngopharyngeal reflux. Taking proton pump inhibitors like Nexium and antihistamines like cetirizine(Zyrtec) will be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
 Dr. Nishad BN
